On June 26th , 2010 Jim O’Brien completed the 11th Safaricom Marathon
held at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya , Africa . This course is one of the toughest marathons in the world at average altitudes of 5,500 feet and temperatures near 100 degrees. Jim was the top U.S. finisher of 1,000 athletes from 20 countries. His time was 3 hours 40 minutes for the 26.2 miles. Jim said “The race was very rigorous with dirt roads, undulating hills, and rocky sections. He states the scenery was spectacular and ran near herds of giraffe, zebra, and gazelle. This is a once in a lifetime experience with the most incredible views on earth. He raised $5,000 for the Clinic of Angels from generous supporters.
